Support Coordination, a funded support within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan, offers assistance to participants in effectively utilising their plan and establishing connections with informal, mainstream, community, and funded supports.
The specific approach to achieving this will vary for each individual, depending on their unique goals and priorities.
Support Coordinators can provide multifaceted assistance, including identifying and implementing appropriate support options tailored to individual needs and objectives, facilitating the management of NDIS budgets, enhancing understanding and implementation of plan funding, and offering guidance in preparation for plan reviews.
Support Coordinators can attend review meetings at the participant's discretion and offer assistance in communicating with the NDIS should funded supports not adequately address needs or in the event of a crisis.
Choosing Better Beyond Care Services (BBCS) for Support Coordination offers significant advantages throughout an individual's NDIS journey.
Recognising that the NDIS process can be complex, particularly for newcomers to the scheme, Better Beyond Care Services specialises exclusively in Support Coordination.
This focus ensures our team remains current with the latest NDIS information and possesses comprehensive knowledge of mainstream organisations and NDIS providers within the Newcastle and Hunter region.
Our team of Support Coordinators brings a diverse array of strengths, attributes, and industry experiences, enabling us to confidently match individuals with a coordinator best suited to their specific needs and with whom they feel comfortable.
Our primary objective is to ensure that you feel consistently supported and empowered throughout your NDIS plan.
We prioritise offering choice and collaborating closely with you and your support networks to facilitate the creation of the life you desire.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Short Term Accommodation offers NDIS participants the opportunity to reside outside of their usual home for brief periods.
This essential support includes respite care, enabling regular caregivers to take necessary breaks.
A temporary stay in a secure and supportive setting offers numerous advantages for both participants and their families.
These benefits include opportunities to engage in new activities and discover new interests, a welcoming environment for social interaction and building friendships, support to enhance sustainable community living, a chance for the usual support network to attend to holidays, work, or appointments, the development of new skills to foster greater independence, and a safe haven when a primary caregiver is temporarily unavailable.
Under the NDIS framework, STA can be incorporated into a participant's plan, encompassing accommodation, personal care, meals, and mutually agreed-upon activities with the accommodation provider.
Funding for Short Term Accommodation is typically available for up to 28 days annually, offering flexibility in how these days are utilised.
For instance, participants may choose to use the full allocation at once or in shorter increments, such as up to 14 days at a time for holiday accommodation throughout the year.
Alternatively, one weekend per month could be used as an opportunity for a change of environment.
Beyond Better Care Services (BBCS) maintains local teams across Australia and offers a diverse selection of high-quality STA options in the following regions:
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Geelong, Wollongong, Newcastle.
NDIS short-term accommodation providers, we offer comfortable and contemporary homes for stays of up to 28 days, complete with all necessary support.
This presents an excellent option for NDIS participants seeking respite care or a refreshing change from their usual living arrangements.
Our Short-Term Disability Accommodation also provides ample opportunities for participants to explore new hobbies, acquire new skills, and engage in enjoyable activities, either independently or with others.
All our activities are thoughtfully designed to promote independence and build capacity, with comprehensive support in place to ensure a safe and pleasant experience.
Our dedicated teams are committed to delivering exceptional experiences, ensuring that participants conclude their stay feeling revitalised and enriched.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a model of accommodation designed to provide individuals with disabilities the support necessary to live as independently as possible.
You may be familiar with this type of accommodation under previous terms such as Disability Accommodation or Group Homes, which were commonly used before the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Regardless of the terminology, these terms all describe living arrangements where individuals receive support tailored to their needs, which can range from staff drop-ins and on-site emergency assistance to 24/7 support within the home.
Our SIL homes are situated within the communities where we operate, and each is carefully adapted to meet the specific requirements of the residents.
As a NDIS-funded model of shared accommodation, SIL can involve residing with one or more individuals who share similar interests and support needs, with Beyond Better Care Services (BBCS) staff providing assistance across various aspects of daily life.
The NDIS funds a variety of SIL models, and BBCS collaborates closely with individuals, their families, and Support Coordinators to facilitate placements in homes that are best suited to individual preferences.
Whether you are considering sharing accommodation or living independently, and whether your preference is for an apartment, villa, or house in an urban or rural setting, we can assist you.
BBCS offers a selection of existing homes for your consideration and is also able to identify properties that specifically align with your unique needs.
Our services extend across the Hunter Valley and Central Coast regions, and we are committed to empowering you with choice and control over your living arrangements.
Support within our SIL homes is typically available around the clock and may encompass:
Recognising that each individual has distinct needs, the NDIS has established three funding levels for SIL:
BBCS is dedicated to understanding your preferences regarding the type of home and its location.
We aim to streamline the process and provide assistance in securing a residence that is the right fit for you.
Beyond Better Care Services has a history of supporting individuals with disabilities in the Newcastle and Hunter regions to achieve their goals and actively participate in their local communities.
Our approach involves close collaboration with each person to ensure their initial move is appropriate and aligned with their needs, desires, and future aspirations.
Our team will support you in exploring new experiences across various aspects of life, including social connections, entertainment, community involvement, further education, holidays, career exploration, relationship building, volunteering, and pursuing hobbies and interests.
At BBCS, we prioritise careful matching of staff to your individual requirements, working in close partnership with you, your family, and other important individuals in your support network.
BBCS employs experienced and trained staff who are required to complete mandatory training.
Our team is skilled in supporting customers with their unique needs and can provide assistance with:
Behaviour support involves working with participants who exhibit behaviours of concern and require specific interventions.
Our behaviour support practitioners are professionals with backgrounds in mental health-related fields, such as Psychology, Counselling, Psychotherapy, Rehabilitation Counselling, or Mental Health.
As part of their assessment, our behaviour support therapists provide positive behaviour support interventions to help those around individuals with behaviours of concern better support them.
Our practitioners work closely with our team to ensure comprehensive care.
We can assist with a range of behaviours of concern, including:
Our approach to providing behaviour support involves:
1. Initial Consultation and Assessment
A behaviour support practitioner will meet with the individual requiring support to complete a thorough assessment, identifying and documenting all behaviours of concern. They will communicate directly with the participant and those who spend the most time with them.
2. Identifying Assessments
Once behaviours of concern are identified, the practitioner will determine relevant assessments for those supporting the individual to complete.
3. Reporting and Planning
The practitioner will then complete a comprehensive behaviour assessment report detailing all identified behaviours of concern. Following this, a behaviour support plan will be developed, providing guidance on how to best assist and manage these behaviours.
It's important to understand that all behaviours of concern occur for a reason, which is unique to each individual.
Some common reasons include:
At Beyond Better Care Services (BBCS), our Behaviour Support Practitioners (BSPs) possess the skills and experience to provide behaviour assessment reports, develop behaviour support plans, and implement behaviour therapy for NDIS participants.
Our BSP professionals are dedicated to helping NDIS participants achieve their goals related to independence, community participation, and overall well-being.
